Materials + Care

BLUMA jewelry is handcrafted using 14k gold-filled components and jeweler’s brass sheet and wire.

Jeweler’s brass is a durable, corrosion resistant alloy of 85% copper and 15% zinc, giving it a color very close to 14k gold. 14k gold-filled is a thick layer of karat gold that is pressure bonded to a jeweler’s brass core. It is 100x thicker than gold plate and will not flake or tarnish. With proper care, both brass and 14k gold-filled jewelry will age beautifully and last a lifetime.

Recommended Care:

• Avoid getting jewelry wet

• Do not wear jewelry to sleep, shower, workout, or swim

• Store jewelry in a cool, dry place (NOT the bathroom)

• Polish periodically with a yellow Sunshine cloth (one will be included per order - add additional cloths here)

Brass naturally darkens over time and will develop a patina, especially when exposed to heat and humidity. This does not harm the metal and actually acts as a protective layer. If you enjoy the aged look of the patina, you can simply leave it be. To keep your brass jewelry bright and shiny, follow the above instructions.

To remove heavily built-up patina, dissolve 1/2 tsp of salt in 1/4 cup white vinegar (use a non-metal glass or plastic dish), drop your jewelry in and swish it around for a few seconds, rinse in cool water, and dry thoroughly. Follow up with a yellow Sunshine polishing cloth if needed.
